Sydney and the Whitsunday Islands

Our first day in Sydney consisted of a trip to the zoo where we were able to watch native animals such as kangaroos and wallabees. Later in the day, we went out to dinner as a group to a seafood restaurant that Jack found for us. After dinner, we went to their winter fest where we all went ice skating before enjoying hot chocolate to accompany the cold weather.

The next day, we woke up early to fly to the Whitsunday Islands. Once we landed, we spent some time at the docks waiting for the ferry, eating ice cream. We later arrived at a hotel, The Bush Village, where we spent the night. The next morning we walked to the marina to our boat where we would spend the next three nights.

The first day on the water consisted of high winds, rain, and everyone adjusting to the rough conditions, though we were luckily able to visit one of the most highly acclaimed beaches in the world. The second day on the boat was full of high morale while we all put on wetsuits and swam in the ocean. The following day, we sailed to a popular spot on the Great Barrier Reef where we snorkeled for the first time and learned about various fish, coral, and other marine wildlife. The last day on the boat began with an early wake up to go snorkeling. After the early morning swim, we sailed back to the harbor through high winds. Everyone was both sad to leave the boat but happy that they were able to shower again after an eventful four days sailing through the Whitsunday Islands.
